Charlie, with his best friend, Steve! Charlie was first viewed through one of the small openings in a livestock hauler’s long trailer. When we looked inside, he jumped up and pushed his muzzle at the opening, with so much hope in his eyes that we could not look away. He came home with us that same day, and we are all the better for having him here with us. He is so full of life with a curious, determined personality!
A one-year old male holstein steer, Winston avoided the sad fate that awaits newborn male calves, only to find himself in a petting zoo type setting, where he soon grew past the “cute” calf stage. Facing slaughter, he was saved but as he grew it became clear he needed to find a safe refuge in which to live out his life. Winston was transported to us from Thunder Bay, Ontario, and is settling into his new home nicely! He is a big guy with a big heart! Welcome home Winston!
